  • Bell and Howell Filmosound 636 16mm projector. Lamp not working

This thread is a continuation of me trying to get a 16mm projector I found in an antique store to work.
I've now acquired the power cord, all seems to be running smoothly, except for the lamp which does not turn on when I flip both of the lamp switches on the projector. I have no idea how I can replace the bulb inside, as this projector is built like a black-box.

Would anyone know how I can replace the bulb in the projector, and what bulb I need to replace the old one with?

    Regards,
    Clark

The bottom of the lamphouse has a large screw. Gently turn this until it is beginning to come loose, then the lamp will also follow. When replacing note that it has a very fine thread so be careful when reassembling.

The lamp is 750 watts at 240 volts, it's an A1/53, note that it is a special lamp for Bell & Howell projectors, it has a locating spigot which must face the screen when re-inserting in position.

Thank you, Maurice. I will purchase the lamp soon. once it arrives, I believe the projector will finally be in full working order.

      Greatly appreciate your help! Cheers

Clark, glad to help. I have the later model, the 8636, badged as "Maritime".
This was kept in production when the other wooden blimp models were superseded by the 641,642, 643, and the 644.
Maritime, as for many years ships only had a DC supply, which, as you know, this and yours is AC/DC.
