  • The G27 bulb. What makes you think it is no longer made?

This is what you call a miserable meat head of a seller.
I read on here the other day that the G27 is now no longer made.

This seller obviously knows it and thinks people are dumb enough to pay it, what a smuck

Did read and understand the ad?
The price of £125 is for 10 lamps. i.e. £12.50 each.
Yes, still expensive, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

Hi Maurice, I stand corrected, still not sure why they would want to sell in 10's though. Dont these lamps last for years?

Considering that since I'm living on another half of hemisphere, so I'll have to take another £32.87 shipping cost & £32.54 import charge into an account as well. The total cost for this 10 lamps would be £190.41, or £19 each - yuckkkkkk.

How much would it cost to experiment with LED conversion?

I believe that many owners of 16mm sound projectors have never had an exciter lamp failure. Probably due to the fact that it takes a fraction of a second to warm up.
I have many projectors which take the G27, G29 and the G40. I can't remember when I last changed an exciter lamp.
However, it's better to be safe than be sorry.
I advise owners to get in a few G27 lamps before the prices do sky-rocket.

Anyone charging extortion prices may as well buy another projector, you can pick them up cheap enough, as long as it comes with the G27 you at least get another machine to strip for parts if its a wreck sold for spares

Unfortunately despite it's longevity... I had a BRK exciter lamp finally go out on my Elmo CL16 about 5 months ago. I replaced it with a lamp from one of my spare projectors. I really don't like to do that but had no choice. I would prefer to have a couple spare bulbs so I'm going to try to find some that don't cost an arm and a leg.
