I went there years ago and was offered 'Top Hat' feature for about £75 but I declined. I don't think I bought anything in the end but did inquire about some 200ft's behind glass but don't think they were for sale.
BTW that was 'Top Hat' Super 8 I think Mountain release on 5x400 in original boxes. But you're right it's a museum collection rather than a shop which is why I haven't been back since, but maybe I will visit this year just to look around at chat with him. There is nothing else in London like it today.
There is at least one in Brussels and Paris. The Brussels one covers all film memorabilia but there is an 8mm section at high to silly prices . The Paris guy has featured on here before and is realistic in terms of price and condition.
I should think he is quite like many of us with home cinemas! Just look at the ones depicted in Keith Wilton’s Armchair Odeons Videos and DVDs ! It is a shame that eventually it will all end up as landfill or recycling centre.Ken Finch😔
Funny you mention landfill. There was a really enthusiastic collector in our club. Great guy unfortunately he was married to a gorgon. She hated 8mm and film collectors in particular with a vengeance. She publicly stated once her husband was dead it was all being destroyed.
He did die and true to her word that what she did. Projectors thrown into skips at council dumps and films books magazines etc Best Clint Eastwood collection on 8mm I have ever seen plus horror and science fiction systematically bagged and binned for land fill.
Nasty old bitch. I am glad to report we helped him escape at 8mm events and functions. He was a liberated man at London and at Blackpool were I am glad to report he experienced an Avanti moment every year with an old female friend he had fun
Bought little but sure the gorgon would have berated him if he did. Little did she know 😁😜😁
I’ve bought films from Umit at the shop. Last thing was an 8mm print of dr caligari. Lovely chap. He has a few he sells and lots he won’t but I believe he allows rentals of films also.
