  • What is 16F, 16D, 16S in several scope lenses? Why Elmoscope did not use it?

I found several brands such as Sankor, Kowa, Singer used specific codes such as 16F, 16D, 16S in their lenses. What do those codes mean?

And why Elmoscope or Isco lenses line-ups do not use it?

Kowa used Z as well, the 8Z and 16Z come to mind. I think the number was intended to show whether it had been sold for 8mm or 16mm use, I believe that in all other respects they were identical.

I can say that only Kowa distingush between 8mm vs 16mm lenses as there is no issue using 16mm scope lens on 8mm projector.

Can I guess that whoever use that code (16D, 16F, etc) was using the same lenses manufacture only sleeve and design (as well as surely the brand) were different?

        Hi!

Elmo didn’t use this because there was never a standard behind those letters. And hence nobody understood and understands the meaning of those letters. Let’s take the „C“ as an example: For some manufacturers this meant a diameter of 40.5mm, while this was 43mm or 49mm for others. Therefore nobody knows
whether the manufacturers started with „A“ for their smallest diameter
whether „C“ was for „compact“ or „same diameter as C-mount“
        or whether these letters have been abbreviations for projectors from certain manufacturers („A“ = „Ampro“, „B“ = „B&H“, „C“ = „Canon“, „E“ = „Elmo“, „F“ = „Fumeo“, …).
