  • Bell & Howell GB Equipment Transformer

Are rather basic question here! I have just acquired a GB Equipment 240v to 110v transformer without any leads, but I can make up new leads. At the back of the unit there is a square 4 pin Jones plug socket and a round 3 pin Belling Lee socket.
Which of these is for the 240v input and which is the 110v output? If all else fails I will take the cover off and investigate.
    Thanks
    Iain

Hi Iain. The old GB Bell and Howells were the projectors used in many u k schools. The Jones Plug was the 110 volt output to the projector and The Belling Lee the input to the transformer. The mains socket had recessed pins like the ones on modern appliances. you may find it difficult to find one that mates up to the old style these days. As to the output cable to the projector, these were known as Y leads because the projector had 2 input sockets, one for the motor and lamp and a smaller one for the amplifier. The Y leads were moulded rubber which perished over a period of time. The projector design was changed with the more modern 640 machine.

Thanks Ken, That confirms what I suspected. Will actually be using the transformer to power a Siemens 2000 110V set up, so will not need the 'Y' lead. Have found suitable connectors on ebay so now making up the 2 leads to suit.
