I'm learning how to take apart a TQ3. I’ve hit a stumbling block with the elements on this shaft that need to be removed. I’ve been looking at tutorials and following various stages but they always feature the basic (not specialist) TQs. This shaft not only contains the worm gear but associated mechanism for the ‘animation’ function, as found on the specialist machines, and not in the tutorials. The rest of the projector has been stripped of the animation gear.

The shaft itself is no longer secured in the frame, with the ball bearings out, and is quite loose, but not free. The idea (from the tutorials) is that the worm gear screws are loosened and then it can then be slid off the shaft, in the direction of 1, allowing the removal of the shaft completely from the frame. However the items A,B,C although loose on the shaft are unable to move enough and allow me to remove them off in the direction of 1. There feels like something inside one of the elements is catching on something.

D is part of the loop restorer (hidden in shadow) and is to be retained. It has been loosened using the grub screw. In addition 2 C- clips have also been removed from the shaft.

The items A,B,C are not to be retained but scrapped. If I’m unable to remove them neatly then I could just saw/ cut the items A and B as they are mainly plastic, and freeing the other elements on the shaft, which hopefully would allow me to remove the shaft completely.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I got it sorted. It just needed a good knock with a hammer on the end of the shaft while holding on to the worm drive. Seemingly I was a too delicate with it!

        Hi Clyde!
Yes you are correct. My attention was not drawn to them. I have a ball bearing in the blue box and tiny, circular disc in the red box. Are these what you are referring to? What should I know about them?
        Thanks.
