TRACK OF THE CAT (1954) This has always been one of my favorite westerns but it’s one that never gets much attention. I remember first watching it on WNEM TV in the late 1960’s in mid Michigan. That is the only time I ever recall it being on television but I am probably wrong. Track of The Cat was produced by John Wayne with a great cast that includes Robert Mitchum, Tab Hunter among others. It was written by the same author who wrote THE OX-BOW INCIDENT. Screened my Kodachrome print a few nights ago which I have had for many years. The scenery in this film is beautiful.

I can recall seeing it on TV as a kid, but have not seen since. I still recall the scene where the cat finds the hunter (Mitchum)

It was filmed in my state (Washington) in the Mount Rainier National Park. We don't have Panthers here but we do have Cougars which I have encountered while riding a dirt bike in the back country.

The scenery in this film is beautiful. Don’t understand why it’s not shown anymore on stations such as Turner Classic Movies. Most people have never even heard of this one and it’s a shame. I run my print at least once a year.
