  • Advice for an Elmo 912S motorized sound viewer

I need a viewer that can handle 1200’ reels—but I’ve had so much bad luck with the Elmo
912S. First one, the motor gave out. Second one, the sprocket teeth, totally froze and you can’t turn it at all. I found a third machine, but after about a month of using it, the bulb slowly dimmed out to nothing. I have tried three other bulbs in it, and there’s no juice to the bulb anymore. It’s a 6 V 10 W viewer bulb, smaller than the tip of your thumb. I’m just getting so frustrated because this third unit I got on eBay and it only lasted about three weeks.

Any ideas on how to get the bulb working? Or anybody do repairs on these things?

    Thank you so much!!

I Suggest to send them all three, so the repairman can make one beautifull working version.
I know a electrician man who is speciallized in Elmo projectors, who made my Elmo GS1200 as if it is a brand new, but it's here n Holland.
I could ask him, but are you willing to ship it to the Netherlands, cause it adds up to your final expends.
The last one you bought seems to have electrical problems, which he can solve really wel, so you might have to ship only that one.

Thank you so much for the information! It would probably be so prohibitively expensive to ship it over that it would be unrealistic. I’m going to continue my search here and see if I can find somebody who can perhaps swap out the transformer from another one of my Elmo Viewers. .

David there’s an Elmo place in California called Denevi digital that maybe able to fix them there’s 2 divisions one that transfers and another that fixes units and does conversions.

Is this the same sound viewer as the GOKO RM8008?

Hi David... I have the same Elmo viewer. I've never had an issue with the lamp, but I can open it up and take a look.

This Elmo is also manufactured by Goko, but it is not equivalent to the 8008, which is stereo and has a recording function. This Elmo would be like the Goko 5000 but without a recording function.
