Thank you!
Here is a long play unit on Ebay now and in the UK. I have spoken to the person selling it and he is really nice. I was interested in the unit but it's too much to ship to the states and have it converted to 110. Good luck
thanks ken i saw this already but its too much or me, i was getting a spondon version hal the price rom PHIL AT CHC but he hasnt been at the shop or some time.
I recommend Goldberg brothers for anyone living in the USA, attempting to build a long play system as the product will be cost-effective in both currency exchange and shipping rates.
That being said, the Reels in the Netherlands looked very nice, especially the larger ones
Wittner has or had a conversion kit to extend the GS's arms, but costs around $300 or so. Since I had an extra pair of arms I actually converted the arms myself. I cut the arms in two. By using the Elmo GS-800 belt (top belt) to replace the regular GS belt I measured out the distance for the belt and used a flat steel bar to connect the arm parts. It would take a little doing but it works fine. I just finish a second one. Sold one a few years ago when I needed some extra money. It's better to replace the spindle with one from Van-Eck. I'll try to get a pic of it to show what I did.
The Bauer is a great machine. I had the 610. Super steady. The only thing I didn't like it was hard to clean the gate especially when showing a film when some hair or dirt gets stuck.
hilarry i think i seen your video on youtube maybe it was you? i agree on cleaning the gate of the bauer it is hard and hair does get caught in it, is there a way to remove the lens i cant work it out, oh by the way i just ordered a spondon long play arms from CHC
I believe all you need to do is turn it until it becomes loose and pull it out. I don't remember it's been a long time. I did a quick search for 'spondon long play arms' and found some pics. Should work great.
yep those are the ones,i just need to attach to some MDF board and space them out and line up correctly for the bauer to sit in between, should be a doddle, i will try the twisting of the bauer lens to see of it comes out.
