  • Elmo 1.2 25-50mm Lens!

Hey guys I've got this zoom lens for an Elmo GS/ST1200 projector that I'm not using. I'm looking for expressions of interest or for a swap for a 1.0 lens deal.

Nice to have the presentation box but that looks to be the wrong box for that lens.

Hello Allen, you are correct it looks as though the box is/was from a lens the same but a 1.4 instead of my 1.2 . I believe these are used for long distance projecting and others like them for use in scope setups. I'll admit I've had it a while and haven't used it much. I was just curious of peoples thoughts on them since my knowledge of them is limited.

I have both the 1.2 and the 1.4 and I use them in my 'scope setup. Beyond the optical difference, they are slightly different in length: the 1.2 is maybe a centimeter longer than the 1.4. In most cases, this doesn't mean a thing, but is a little bit of a pain for me because with an anamorphic screw-mounted to the machine only the 1.4 can swing open to allow for cleaning the gate. The 1.2 hits the anamorphic bracket and I have to loosen its thumbscrew to gain clearance. If I had a swing away anamorphic mount, I wouldn't have this problem. Then again, I had these brackets made for me in Germany and brought them home in my luggage when I visited there, so I'm not keen on buying something else!

The difference in brightness between the two lenses is not huge, so especially for casual viewing, this makes the 1.4 my first choice. 1.2 stays in reserve for a second machine with changeovers.

If I was using them in a real auditorium situation without the anamorphic, I'd probably go with the 1.2 because a little extra brightness is certainly nice to have!

Hello Steve, Can you tell me which lens is the better in your opinion: the ELMOSCOPE GEN 1 OR THE ELMOSCOPE II (THE SHORT LENS) ?

          THANKS Steve Singarella

Hi Joel. What is your asking price for the 1.2 25-50?

              Hi Steven,

My anamorphic lenses are two Sankors: I've never owned an ELMOSCOPE lens.

The Elmo Auditorium lenses are just a necessity to keep the 'scope picture from spilling off the screen when used together with an anamorphic. They make a huge difference for me: before I had one, the thing to do with 'scope was move the machine forward about 6 feet dragging power and audio cables along behind it: this dropped it onto the Dining Room table like a cinematic centerpiece!

-this of course meant if I was going to set up for 'scope, the show was a one-night only performance. My wife enjoys the films, but let's not abuse the privilege!

I now have two scope lenses, two scope brackets and two auditorium lenses: can a 'scope feature with changeovers be too far behind?
