  • Halloween Cartoon Wants

    Greetings friends!

It's still hot and summery outside, but if you can believe it Halloween isn't that far off! I know, where has our year gone?

I wanted to ask if anyone had some Halloween Cartoons for sale as I begin thinking about my programming for the season soon enough. I have a silent print of Trick or Treat with decent color, but was hoping to expand my selection.

    A couple Disney Classics:
    Skeleton Dance Disney (Sound)
    Mickey Mouse Lonesome Ghost (Color/Sound)

    Tom and Jerry:
    Fraidy Cats

    Best wishes to you all!

I'd love to find Lonesome Ghosts as well! However, if you can find the "Mickey and his pals" 400ft, it has a shortened version of Lonesome Ghosts on that.

Kenner had a short of lonesome ghosts years that ran in their hand held viewer it was in a cartridge that one just loaded into the hand held viewer then you just cranked the knob to view it not sure how long it was or how many feet do a eBay search you might find this version

I used to have that as a kid. Fisher Price, or whoever did the editing, took the original cartoon and, instead of 24 frames per second, did as few as maybe 6 frames per second. While this would never due for film projection, of course, as all the action would run thru the projector, on screen, at a highly accelerated rate, for a little hand cranked viewer, the child could "under crank" and watch it at a watchable rate. It also allowed the film editors to give you, perhaps, the content of a 50ft super 8 release, in a much smaller "package" of film! 🙂

The version of "Lonesome ghosts" (1937) that you want was released by Derann. The color is fantastic as well as the sound on that release! I just screened my copy a couple of weeks ago and can assure you that version is a keeper and the one you will want to search for. On the balance stripe I synced and recorded the French soundtrack to be able to select either language during viewing. I believe I even wrote a small review of that release on the old forum many years ago.
