        Hi!
Runaway brain isn’t Mickey‘s last short.
Disney released a whole series of shorts with Mickey later on (at least two seasons):

it’s a bit like Star Wars they never know when to stop to they.

It was the last “new” Mickey Mouse cartoon I saw in the theatrical cinema. I think it was shown before Hunchback of Notre Dame feature both of which I bought on super 8. An expensive night. I sold my Hunchback to one of the Disney animators who worked on Hunchback.

Wikipedia mentions Runaway Brain was released on Super 8 by Derann. Fame or what.

In 2013, there was also a cartoon with Mickey shown in cinemas together with „Frozen“: „Get a horse!“.

Here's a couple of shots from Derann's Runaway Brain. It is presented letterbox. I'm sorry this is not for sale.

GREAT Derann release! Well worth hunting down, one of those examples of Derann super 8 prints, being just as good as your 16mm prints, but in stereo AND low fade film stock!

It does appear that Mickey and his contemporaries stlll appear on the Disney tv channel but Mickey does not seem to be quite the same in appearance or personality as the original character we knew and loved as a child. But tv is very different to cinema in many respects. What has happened to innovation? Who will be resurrected next, Felix the Cat. Pop eye and Betty Boop..?😉 I have fond memories of childhood cheers when that smiley Mickeys face appeared on the screen.

I don't mind, as long as they stay in character. A good example of things gone wrong, is in "The Looney Tunes Show". Excellent animation, often quite funny, but they did a dreadful thing. They took the Witch Hazel character, and gave her a sassy black woman voice, and no "cackling" laughter like Witch Hazel always had, and we know and love . Now, I have nothing against any nationality and the vocal character of such, but w itch Hazel hasn't been made any different visually, and they have the "Granny" character, with the same old Granny voice, which was the same voice actor (June Foray), doing both, and while June Foray passed on years ago, if they can have an actress do Granny's voice perfectly, why not have said actress do the classic Witch Hazel voice? I mean, Witch Hazel isn't black in character or nature, why give her a black woman voice? Everytime she's on the screen, with that new voice, it annoys the hell out of me because, well, we, in TV land, know how Witch Hazel is supposed to sound. Is it just a desperate attempt to make the Looney Tunes more "woke"? I'm not the only person with that issue, lots of people have commented on this on various forums as well.
