The seller certainly struck lucky in this instance. It's striking to see that five bidders were willing to pay at least US $261. $500 may seem a huge amount to pay but I'd guess the buyer may well be seeking original footage for TV/documentary content. The screenshots look good and the cost probably wouldn't seen huge to a TV station.

Images seem pretty great, excellent color, surely Kodachrome. A good cinematographer could assemble a documentary out of that footage.

What's really fascinating, is when someone who worked on the set of a famous film of the past, showing behind the scenes footage of stars we know and love, they can go for absolutely outlandishly high prices. I remember standard 8mm footage from " River of No Return" going for thousands of dollars ... A little 50ft reel of Marilyn Monroe!
