It is the flat version. Better to go with the 600ft scope digest! The color actually looks a little faded to me, but it might just be the photography. It actually looks like the optical sound feature to me, but probably isn't.
The feature scope version was a little soft. Best thing about this movie was John Barry music. Think the photos of this seller are a bit overexposed so might not be fade.
In my opinion (if You put the facts aside) it isn’t an awful feature. I own the scope version and if You use a big screen (or wall) it is quite impressive.
And YES, the music is great!!!
I always think of Lew Grade's comments after the release, he said:
Looking back I think it would have been cheaper to have lowered the atlantic than to raise ......
They offered the lead to Steve Mc Queen early on in production with silly money to be in it. He read the script through it aside and said this thing is going to BOMB. Jason Robards who did co star in it just drank to get through it.
The 1st 20 minutes are not bad but it is all downhill after that. We spend ages waiting for the damn Titanic to be raised then when it does surface it looks like a big model boat in a swimming tank which is basically what it was.
I remember when it was announced to be released everyone fell about laughing and general comment was who would buy that 💩💩💩y movie. Mind you it was after Hawk the Slayer.
It did however sell for Derann I think 600 mini features and feature releases in flat and scope helped.
Speaking of Titanic what about the James Cameron no one ever talks about The Abyss. It was released on 8mm and part the pun never surfaced. I have only seen the 1st half hour on television but fell asleep 💤 so don’t even know what The Abyss is about.
According to IMDB - " Formerly married petroleum engineers who still have some issues to work out. They are drafted to assist a gung-ho Navy SEAL with a top-secret recovery operation: a nuclear sub has been ambushed and sunk, under mysterious circumstances, in some of the deepest waters on Earth."
At 2 hours and 20 minutes , I fell asleep too .
Heyyyyyyy, I liked the Abyss, well, I like nearly anything with Ed Harris, he's fairly reliable for a good performance. I'll admit that it does drag on a little, especially in the directors cut.
