Scott. I'm afraid this never surfaced, I believe it was a Warner Bros. release, and there's not much of their titles on 8mm, I'm not sure I've ever seen a trailer either, there may have been a bootleg copy in somewhere like Italy, there may be the odd 16mm print, but I think that's about it! -
I`ve got a trailer on 16mm.
I think I once saw a trailer on 8mm but was a while ago.
Possibly a USA print.
The best bet film wise is an LPP TV print really as Barry says.
Thankfully the Blu Ray is really good.
The best version and with enough proper Oompa Loompa`s !!!

PS its worth keeping an eye on Italian Ebay as its amazing what pops up on there full feature S8 wise. Many are on the go but a few are on half decent Agfa.Comment

It's funny that you have brought this subject up Scott , I have always wanted a print of this film on super 8 and have spent over ten years religiously searching Ebay Italy every week for one, but with no luck.
I do believe there are some prints of this film out there, as the film was originally released in Italy back in the day, I can't see them letting this one go without a bootleg copy being made.
I recently pickup a copy of It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, all three hours of it, for 25 euros. Expecting it to arrive totally faded red and smelling like vinegar. I was astounded to find it was printed on Agfa stock and looks absolutely wonderful. A total bargain!
There are many films out there Scott, that were not officially released by the studios but you do have to search very hard for them. Also remember that film titles can change from country to country, for example Stars Wars in Italian is changed to Galaxy War.

My middle son was so captivated by them.
Are you just 8mm Scott as there are some TV prints out there on low fade.
I remember see the film on Christmas in the 70`s when 10 or 11 and was mesmerized !!!
Another film that aftected me around that time another Christmas was Daleks invasion Earth 2150 AD.

It is no problem to ask questions here. My understanding is: A TV print would be a 16mm version that was used to broadcast a movie or television series episode on broadcast television. Quite often TV prints will have minor edits for language, perhaps nudity, and sometimes these are trimmed a bit for overall running time to force-fit into a TV schedule timeslot. There are more details about TV prints, but other members here know more than I do.
There are 16mm prints of the 1971 Charlie and the Chocolate Factory out there. Some are faded, some are on low fade film stock which would have the original brilliant colors. As you can imagine, these copies are highly coveted by collectors and don't show up super frequently. I would suggest creating a saved search for this title on eBay with an email alert so you can see when this is listed on eBay. After having read the book as a kid, this is one of my favorite family-themed films.Comment

Don't scream Osi, but the film is in scope although slightly cropped. When placing a bid on it I had no idea what I was actual bidding on, as the description was very vague. I also thought I had no chance of winning this one as it would go for silly money, turn out I had the only bid, and got it for the starting price.
To tell the truth it could have turned up in any condition and I would had been happy, just having this one in my collection is enough as it is one of my favourite films of all time, for many reasons I can't explain. Guess it was a monumental piece of film/cinema history.
Many years ago I had the pleasure of showing the film twice professionally, once on 35mm, and the second time on 70mm, and have always looked back at this as an ohana to have done so. Just holding the 70mm ultra Panavision print in your hand and seeing those iconic scenes running between your fingers was enough to send tingles down your spine.
When I have a bit more time I will take some screenshots of the print and upload them.

Hi Scott, I would guess a TV print on 16mm Low Fade usually Acetate kodak LPP would rush you about £300 or $400 privately or thereabouts.
Ebay going by some things lately could be worse.
I hate to say it on here but for many films now with thier prices, once past £200 ish I`m a big believer in getting a good trailer on 8mm or really good one on 16mm and going LCD projection wise for the actual film itself !!! sorry !!! everyone.
NEC made LCD projectors for officies etc are superb at showing films, and many look filmie from around $200 for a good one. Even thier 720p machines are superb.
If you don`t have 16mm projectors or lenses etc its something to bear in mind as well too.
Has anyone here seen or got the trailer on 8mm out of interest. I think I may have done but my memory is very on and off.
I would happily give you my 16mm LPP trailer but I honestly can`t bear to part with it at the moment.
But if your still about and I have to let cine go I`ll send you it.
In the mean time keep an eye on ebay Italy and does anyone have an Italian contact who may have a way in there, or contacts in the Italian super 8 market etc ?
