  • WTB "Fantasia" (1942 RKO Cut)

I've brought this up before the forum software update. Still (desperately) searching high and low for the 80 minute version of Disney's Fantasia, which omits the Toccata segment entirely, as well as the first portion of the Rite of Spring. Deems Taylor's interstitials were kept but trimmed down. I've only seen this cut show up once on eBay, years ago, and never again since. I kick myself every day for not bidding on it.

Anybody have this release in 8/16mm?

        Hi Jose,
this might be the version you are looking for: https://www.ebay.it/itm/233668354853?ul_noapp=true

I have a version which came in the same box and on 4 x 600'. The color has faded but it contains the uncensored Pastoral Symphony Sequence and it has the marks of a bandsaw-print. I don't how many different Italian versions of "Fantasia" there are. The more frequently offered version comes on 6 x 600' and has "stereophonic sound" on the box (I don't know if the print actually has stereo sound).

Just remember that the edited 42 version is most definitely the "bandsaw" version and really, except for archival purposes, get it for that. Buy the Derann feature for true enjoyment. BTW ... I was the one that sold that print on eBay years ago.

Nice auction, but it's not the 1942 unedited, uncensored version, which is kind of funny, as, that rare edited Italian feature is, in fact, edited, but it does have the rare "Servant centaurettes" footage that hadn't been seen since it's original release.

Here's another Italian print which might just be the 1942 bandsaw print: https://www.ebay.it/itm/233757126199?ul_noapp=true

This is the "bandsaw" print, but it has faded color, so, just take that into consideration.

                    Hello everyone,

Can you explain me what is a "bandsaw" print? thank you.

I remember on my bandsaw print, most of the time the splices were not noticeable, other times it was obvious. Honest, I don't think it is worth it, and that comes from a person who has owned one.

BTW, you can get the footage of the censored black centaurettes by buying the original theatrical trailer for Fantasia, and it will be on low fade film stock.
