  • Elmo GS-1200 fuse blowing

Hi all at 8mm Forum, My Elmo GS-1200 has blown a fuse 250V 5A(T). FWD button didn't work. Checked all fuses and found one had gone. Replaced it and new one blew almost immediately. Before the first fuse went projector was sounding rough and not right. Any ideas on what might be the matter? First time with any probs. Cheers Robert.

Just a wild guess, but it sounds to me like the main transport motor's bearings are locking up.

If you remove the belt from it, does the motor turn easily with a fingertip?

Hi Steve, removed the motors belt and it turns freely although a wee bit stiff.

        Hi Robert,

That wee bit stiff could be a problem.

My temptation would be to try to power it separately from the machine and see if it runs noisily and draws a lot of current. If that's the problem and it's blowing fuses I suspect it would also get hot pretty quickly too.

Hello at all! This 5A Fuse has nothing to do with the main Motor Power suppley. It was in Line with the big Square Rectifier on the Main Board. On this Rectifier are all the Solenoids, the logic for the Fwd and Rew Buttons, the two Relais on the Main Board and the Lamp Relay are working on. Please check this Rectifier and the Cap. And check all Solenoids and their Microswiches.
