  • Canon Auto Zoom 814 Electronic Super 8 camera

A friend gave me a bag of 'cine stuff' yesterday and among it was a Canon 814 Electronic Super 8 camera complete with its remote control and user manual. I put some batteries in it and was surprised to find that it worked. All the features work too. It cleaned up nicely. Might be tempted to buy a roll of film one day to test it, but at around £50 for the film and £25 for processing, it's not cheap. Gone are the days when a Super 8 cartridge was £7 including processing.

Here in the USA I can buy a cart of new Super 8 Ektachrome color reversal (7294) for about $45.00 US dollars. Processing at Dwayne's Photo is $12.00 per cart. I project only so this keeps the cost cheaper in the long run. Today's Kodak color reversal is a beautiful stock projected on the big screen! For me projection is what Super 8 is all about! Nice camera by the way, and one that many shooters still use today!
