  • Elmo GL1200 Playback in Reverse Problem

I have an Elmo GS1200 that was running just fine in both forward and reverse playback. From out of nowhere reverse playback hops all over the place and the film no longer has nice clean loops while running through the transport. It looks pulled tight at the top just before it get to the lens.
At times it will go into reverse playback and behave for a few seconds and then the film seems to disengage somewhere.
If I am in reverse playback and I swing the lens out the film appears to travel through the transport normally but as soon as the lens is swung back in everything reverts back to a very messy picture.
I also seem to have to use the loop lever in forward from time to time to get it to calm down and play correctly which I never had to do before.
Every movie I try that used to be fine has the same problem.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi!

As a first step: Test with different reels. (I have got several reels where the two sides/flanges/discs/whatevertheproperenglishtermis aren’t parallel to each other anymore. Hence, the motor needs more power to properly feed/unfeed the film onto/from them.)
Also check the film path. You might encounter some scotch tape or splicing tape somewhere - or some of the films‘ tips that you have to cut off to ensure proper auto-threading.

Other than this, it could be anything from „just a CLA“ to „replacing belts/gears/motors/…“.

    Good luck!

      Thank you very much Joerg
I did find a couple of movies that operated correctly.
I really searched the film path but i'll do it again.
