  • Canon T2000 help please!

I am trying to find one useable 8mm projector from the collection of over 30 that my late Father-in-law had in his loft - to view the many family movies he made over the last 50 years, which the family would love to watch.
We are not sure whether he recorded with sound or not - but the only sound projector I can find is a Canon T2000.
Although it powers up and the lamp works, neither spindle rotates - does that mean the belt has gone?
Is it easy to source and replace?
The Eumig Mark 602D appears to work well, but has no sound.
All assistance would be most welcome.

The Eumig Mark S 710D and S 712D are definitely sound projector, that's what the S stands for in the model number.

Thanks Brian, I will see if the S models work.

Following advice from Brian, I am trying to get one of the Eumig Mark S-710D and S-712Ds working. The 712D appears to be missing is lamp holder, so a non-starter (picture attached). The 710D runs fine but there is no light. I tried swapping the bulb ( for a known good bulb), the lamp connector is very corroded and it was very hard to extract the old bulb - but finally succeeded and the bulb appears to be secure in the holder - but still no light. Tried red record button and speed selector without success. Any suggestion for the next step?

It usually means there is more corrosion in the lamp socket itself. Take the bulb and insert it, in and out of the socket multiple times. This may work to remove further corrosion. For a final fix, get some Deoxit contact cleaner and spray it into the socket.

Also you want to take the back off and clean the rubber drive discs. These will become dry and dirty over the years. some automotive CRC belt dressing or any rubber restore will work. Apply with a Q tip and coat both discs. If the projector is running slowly this is usually the cause.
