  • Identical Movies with Different Titles

A good example of this would be March of the Wooden Soldiers being also called Babes In Toyland (Laurel & Hardy).

A few years ago I bought through Ebay a movie called "OH Carol." As the story goes, Carol is an attractive young women trying to make ends meet, so she picks up a job appearing in films which require nudity. I could have sworn this had another title but I can't remember it.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance. No big deal. Just mildly curious.

I think the other title was "Cool it, Carol" Have a look at this link from IMDB

      https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065575/

This site has more info, written by Robin Askwith I think

      https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...20film&f=false

      Could this be the movie?

Yes it was Cool it Carol. I have both the 400ft B&W and a DVD of this.

Strange how they get on a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (Hastings "thumper") train and arrive, without changing on an elderly Electric Multiple Unit (4COR). You wouldn't believe it if I said I bought it for the trains, would you?

Here are two American films with changed titles for UK release.

            Hallelujah, I'm A Bum...…….changed to Hallelujah, I'm A Tramp. 1933 Al Jolson.
Bend Of The River...…………..changed to Where The River Bends. 1952 James Stewart.

I had first hand experience of "Where The River Bends" when I was a trainee projectionist in 1952. One of my duties was doing the 2000ft rewinds. The Technicolor print information on each reel described the film as "Bend Of The River".

The British film about a man and his showman's traction engine from 1962 "The Iron Maiden" was titled "The Swingin' Maiden" in the USA.

I also remember the 1937 Jack Haley "Pick A Star", which on re-issue was called "Movie Struck". Only of interest for a short sequence with Laurel & Hardy.

Maurice Leakey FYI...a little trivia on Bend of the River. Several scenes were filmed on my grandfather's ranch in Oregon. Some absolutely beautiful scenery of the Pacific Northwest in that movie.

Looking up the actor Robin Askwith over there on the Internet movie database I found Janet Lynn the actress who played Carol in oh Carol

And on Google I also found another name for Oh Carol when it was released in the USA and it was called the dirtiest girl I ever met.
