  • The World of James Bond - Question

A 400 colour sound digest of multiple clips from Thunderball, Goldfinger and You Only Live Twice. Low fade stock. Good colour similar to Goldfinger quality with odd neg marks from master material. I remember this being at the Blackpool convention one year. Was it an import, Derann or a Classic release?

Now it’s not the Incredible World of James Bond which was a 51 minute television special in 1965 and appeared in an improved edited version on Super 8 either 400 or 2x400ft. Now it was faded because it was as old as the hills and I think US sourced. It was also strictly Thunderball. It features on Blu Ray as an extra.

Hi Mike. As a fan of the early Bond films, I'm lucky enough to have two prints of this, both bought many years ago. You're absolutely right regarding the extracts. You get the famous laser beam scene from Goldfinger "Do you expect me to talk?" "No Mr Bond, I expect you to die". Also features Bond's jet pack escape from the chateau in the Thunderball pre-credits and Little Nellie being pursued by Spectre helicopters over the Japanese volcanoes in You Only Live Twice.

Colour is very good, but some issues with the source material are evident, in particular the scene where Bond is karate chopped by Oddjob in Goldfinger, before Shirley Eaton receives a coat of gold paint!

I believe this was released by Derann probably late 80's/90's, although there are no markings on the leader. A great 60's nostalgia booster shot when you need it! Two prints I'll never part with.

      Hi Robin

Thanks for information. That fits in with my memory. A blink or you miss it release. Great little digest. Obtained it at a silly price. I actually thought it was the Thunderball promo again so pleasantly surprised with the colour.
