  • Scope UPA cartoons

Were any of the Scope UPA cartoons ever released in S8 mag sound (I.e WHEN MAGOO FLEW)?

I have (or will have) Scope cartoons from Disney, MGM, and Terrytoons. As best I can tell the only studio I’m missing is UPA.

I’ve researched and never found any evidence of a Famous Studios, Warner Brothers, or Walter Lantz Studios cartoons in CinemaScope.

    Thanks!

    David,

Both Magoo Beats the Heat & Magoo Goes Overboard were released by Cineavision in scope.

I have a Super 8 Cineavison print (reddish) of "Magoo Goes Overboard" in my collection and a 16mm Technicolor Scope print of "Magoo's Puddle Jumper". But sorry - not selling...

Thanks for replying! I bet the IB Tech print looks GORGEOUS! Especially with UPA's daring colors and backgrounds!

The U.S. Columbia Super 8 prints of MATADOR MAGOO and GERALD McBOING BOING ON THE PLANET MOO were released in Scope although they weren't marketed as such.

Mike, thanks for that info on those two titles, as I only knew of two being released as scope Cineavision prints. Are these two additional prints in Cineavision, or fully framed scope prints?

Osi, they are full framed scope prints.
