Watching a ridiculously bad Italian print of Song of the South. I knew it would be not good when I bought it but the super 8 gremlin in my brain made me pull the trigger anyway. Haha

Well, they say without the bad ones, we wouldn't appreciate the good ones!
I have this thing where I will knowingly buy or keep a bad print of a movie I love maybe "just to have it".
This is self-defeating because it's hard to look past the flaws and enjoy the film!
(If all bad prints were awful movies too, the Universe would somehow make more sense!)

I was a little bit surprised to see it win Friday feature at CineSea, but then again the people that voted for it were probably recognizing a once in a lifetime chance to see it. For myself, I get their point now: I'm glad I saw it too.
Geoff, our projectionist often splices the 35mm features onto a single 6,000 foot reel. He showed it reel by reel in this case because he wasn't willing to cut into such a rare and historic print.Last edited by Steve Klare; November 20, 2024, 08:25 AM.

It still available as a DVD or Blu ray from Amazon or eBay . It is a Spanish transfer with odd neg marks and pops in sound. A slight upgrade from the Italian film versions which were faded or pink when they were new.
