  • Mansfield 950 8mm Viewer/Editor

First time poster here, with very little experience.
Is there a way to modify a Mansfield 950 so I can watch Super 8 films? Obviously, these "teeth" accomodate a Standard 8mm.

Welcome John! That viewer is strictly Std. 8mm. The two key elements on a viewer are the film transport gear and the shutter. Even if you could modify the transport gear...the shutter and masking would not match the larger frame size of Super 8mm. I recommend looking for a dual gauge viewer which will make your film life a lot easier.

I just purchased a Vernon 808 dual 8 editor for both formats for $61.00 delivered. It has a reversible sprocket for both formats as well as dual shutter apertures. I would stay away from brands like Baia, Keystone, Atlas Warner. Here is a source for the light bulb most editors use which is 6V 10W. ScooterWorks in Chicago has a bulb part number B6P10 for $2.09 each. Good luck with your search
