  • Low residue paper tape

Any suggestions for good 1/4” paper (or plastic) low residue tape to hold down film ends? What I am using barely adhered to the film more than a few minutes! Thanks!

I have been using this tape and I have had no issues with it.

The problem is, how these tapes perform long-term, e.g. after a year or two or three. Often tapes are ok at start, but after some time there will be a residue when you take them off. It could be either gooey and sticky, or hard and brittle. Both of these types of residue can sometimes be very hard to remove. I haven't found the ideal tape, yet...

I often times use these little plastic clips designed for reel to reel audio tape. The tape or film slides into the end of the slot, and you then place the clip onto the reel, they work great! Not sure if they are made any longer, but you can find them for sale on eBay. I usually put "reel to reel audio tape plastic hold down clips" in the search engine. See photo below!
