I know you probably have to manually rewind, since it came with that crank, but the “take up” doesn’t move in a direct path to the reel. If anyone has a PDF of the manual, I’d like to know. Thanks.

That is not a very common projector. You might consider just buying the one listed in the link below. It looks like it was never used, and comes in the original box with the owners manual for $25.
