  • Blackhawk ... Stagecoach?

Did Blackhawk Films release any copies of the 1939 classic, "Stagecoach"? I know that it was released by various companies, but I had never heard of it being released by Blackhawk Films. Any advice, Shorty?

Who knows everyone else did. Usually from public domain prints. Derann version wasn’t bad still a bot hizzy.

If it hadn’t been for Peter Bogdanovitch visiting John Wayne for the making of Directed by John Ford we wouldn’t have a decent copy of Stagecoach. Duke had a 35mm print of each of his movies He had a mint unplayed complete copy of Stagecoach which Peter advised he could have donate to Library for Congress plus get a fresh copy of film made and a sizeable tax adjustment from the US government. Needless to say he did a lot of other titles. Which is why there are no lost John Wayne movies.

Was it ever released in a "green box" edition? Just curious. Shorty mentioned a silver box edition, and his word is gold. I ask as, there is a green box edition at this time on the ole ebay, but I see that the Blackhawk "label" is taped on, but not stuck on in the manner that those labels would have been stuck on back then. Could this green box edition, be a silver box edition, just in a green box? Just a curiosity on my part
