  • Kodak Ektanar Lenses / R8 /Super 8

Are the Kodak Ektar Lenses from Super 8 projectors interchangeable with the Kodak Standard 8 projectors as long as they have same focus design : knob channel or screw in ?

Thomas, I cannot answer your question unfortunately, but for what its worth my Ektar f1,0 22mm lens had an outside diameter of 35.5mm. I had to partially machine it down to 32.5mm to get a tight fit into my Eumig projectors. My lens has a single groove in it for engagement with a pin on the original Kodak M100 for focusing, but it requires manual positioning when used on my Eumig's.
The Kodak f1.0 Ektar is an excellent lens in all respects. It transforms the picture quality when used on my Eumig's. Sharpness of focus, contrast, and light transmission are IMO superior to the excellent Elmo f1.0 12.5-30mm zoom lens. You just get a very white light with this lens compared to the more yellowish Elmo lens. Too bad I cannot use it on my GS1200'S, as the back focal length of the Ektar is shorter than the Elmo lenses, and you cannot push it in far enough to obtain focus. However it is my lens of choice for all my Eumig projectors when I am projecting in my screening room, which is set up for a long throw situation, which is just right for the 22mm focal length of the Ektar lens.
