Steve, if I may critique your post - it just needs a bit more Doomseer.
George, I really hope Projection is headed for Blu-Ray release someday, I'll be standing in line for it!
What I loved about it is it's so open to interpretation that if you showed it to a bunch of people and then sat them around a table, they could talk about it for an hour and still disagree on what they "saw".
.
What a good day at School looked like when I was 12!Last edited by Steve Klare; April 17, 2025, 10:11 AM.

Saturday (and the dealers)
Saturday is a split-screen day as always: in the late morning and early afternoon we had dealer tables and all sorts of films available. Later-on comes Saturday Night Show, but we’ll stick with the early part for now.
The doors stayed closed until 10AM to allow for getting organized and having breakfast, and after that:
Dealer Day!
All sorts of films were available:
.
.
.
.
.-but that’s only part of the story here. This is a genuine social event..
There were all sorts of (smaller) screens set up, and people sat and enjoyed the films.
.
.
.
The Big Screen sat quietly in the background and waited for its big-moment later-on!
There is of course a great deal of film-talk going on, but there’s no hard and fast rule that the only topic allowed is film, either. We’ve known each other long enough to know what our lives beyond Wildwood are like and care too. So, there is often talk about jobs, families and life in general.
-and after a happy day looking for new films to bend our shelves, the doors closed so everyone could go get dinner and be back in time for the Main Event!
We also took a moment to gather downstairs for the group picture, and we'll keep that for the conclusion! (-just like always!)

I really enjoy walking through the rooms and seeing what people are watching. Aside from features & cutdowns, there's always the unusual selection that makes you stop and sit for a while. I got interested in some beautiful uncut 16mm footage from an underwater documentary that was probably never finished!

CineSea was a big factor in bringing 16mm into my mix. Let's face it: 16 is kind of hard to ignore there, even for a lifelong Super-8 guy!
-now, bringing the "new" 16mm machine home from Wildwood in a Honda Civic coupe with three people and luggage and two existing 8mm machines: that's where adventure begins!
(I try to look the other way when 35mm is present!)

Whenever I know there has been a CineSea I always so look forward to Steve's photos and write up.
You guys have such a great time!
Fun to see the 400ft of "The Uncanny"; I was just watching it for the first time last weekend!

Thanks for your kind words, guys!
Actually, we are only a little past the halfway point here. Where we are in the story right now people are getting ready for Saturday Night Show. At the moment, my particular bunch is going uptown to a little Chinese place we know. The last time it was just me and my son and we went the white-carton route and ate outside our room back at the Shalimar watching the setting sun (THIS is living Well!). My wife has joined us this time so instead we have to get all fancy and sit at a table with menus and napkins and drink little cups of tea with no handles! (Lah-Deeee-Dah!!!).(-at least I didn't have to put on a tie!)
There are barbecues at the hotel for the guests' use...one time we brought steaks...it made doing dishes in the room that night so worth it!
Earlier that day I brought my Saturday Night Show Films down to Dave (all 16mm) and Doug (all Super-8). Between the two gauges and the two shows, I brought a total of 15 prints. The ability of these guys to juggle a couple of dozen other people's prints, make some kind of coherent show out of it and get them all back where they came from, rewound on the correct reels and in the correct packaging, is pretty astounding!

Saturday Night Show
Here was the last show of the weekend. A chance for beloved shorts (including maybe a few Thursday Night Theme ones that didn’t get their big moment) to shine up on the big screen.
People were fed and had their comfortable chairs and refreshments at hand:
-Showtime!
.
The Audience was ready!.
Lou, Luca, Shorty and Doug made their introductions and thanked people for joining in..
(Without people, this is just dragging a lot of heavy stuff to the beach for no apparent reason!)
To celebrate this 30th CineSea, Doug put together a video compiled of footage throughout these 15+ years. This was shot by many of us including Tammy, Claus, Todd, Doug and myself.
It includes a look at all the years we've been doing this. There are early still photo tributes to John Black and how he and Shorty had this dream of a US film convention, and how they managed to make it real. Video footage begins with CineSea 6 back in 2012. As a result, up popped my now-22 year old as a then-9 year old. The best part for me was that that same 22 year old was sitting out in the audience with me and also saw it!
-and so it begins:
.
Early in the evening, Diver Dan was back again!.
Here, Baron Barracuda and Trigger Fish concoct another evil scheme!
("Bwaaa-Ha-Ha-Haaaaaa!!!")
Charlie Chase, his wife and mother-in-law have a really awful trip to Depression-Era California in The Wrong Trek.
.
Somehow Porky can’t get a decent night’s sleep with Daffy in the room!.
(Somehow nobody but Porky is surprised!)
We experienced Ultra 8’s beautiful new S8 Drop of Water print, courtesy of Doug..
The Stooges are Scheduled to be hanged, but three sisters scheme to marry ‘em so they can receive an inheritance
…and then came the Pardons…and the pie fight!
(Were you expecting maybe a poetry reading?)
We’re at the maximum number of pictures per post now, so we’ll take an intermission. There’s a kitchen next to the CineSea room with snacks and drinks, please feel free to go help yourself!
