Doug’s I was a Teenage Frankenstein was there as a very special (-actually, one of a kind!) edition. Here it is as a Ken Films cutdown: silent with subtitles, yet now also striped and dubbed from the original feature soundtrack.

Last time’s Thursday Night Theme was “music”, but of course the music didn’t end that night. Liberace was there in a vintage TV special.

The CineSea Class of 30!

Reality Calls!

So, we’ve had a great weekend, but real-life calls us home: it’s time to put CineSea away for another six months! All the films and all the equipment have to get ready for travel and arrive wherever they belong, together with all their bits and pieces. The rooms need to be cleared-out and our stuff packed into the cars. You don’t want to try putting on your shoes next week and find out one of ‘em is five states away in New Jersey. It’s also good to be kind to the hotel staff: no dirty dishes left in the sinks and the rooms in a reasonable, human appropriate condition.

Checkout Time is 11AM: it’s a busy morning!

On the third floor, our little theater is looking a lot more like a conference room once again. Who knows? Maybe next week it will be full of poker players, counted cross-stitchers or barbershop quartets: it’s good for people both to have interests and get away from the routine here and there. As long as they have good, clean fun the way we do, and the hotel is still standing when we need it, we wish them well.

-Our turn will come again, hopefully a great many times!

The screen is all boxed up: ready to be wrapped up and carried down to the van, headed for summer storage.

For us, it was time to say our goodbyes and head on out…until next time!

This one was actually kind of fun to write!

Something that I really respect about CineSea is something that's actually missing there. I've been in a number of other hobby/sports organizations and there is always a clique of people that form kind of an elite because they had the cool stuff (...and I didn't!). I was in a canoe club years ago and made the error of having three years ago's boat ("You don't still have one of...Those, do you?"). Truth of the matter is I enjoyed my boat and still do, despite their best efforts to spoil it for me!

Every so often, the local cycling club glides past: these guys' sunglasses cost more than my whole bike! I keep my distance: I haven't a prayer!


As a film collector I have some nice films and machines: not Maserati and Ferrari nice, but good, solid, middle of the road stuff: Toyota and Honda nice.

Down in Wildwood, I can sit at a breakfast table with the 35mm guy(s) and never feel like I'm not in the "in" crowd. Truth be told, we're all "in". This lets me be happy for the people with the Rolls Royce/Porsche level stuff and maybe grateful that they bring it with them so I can enjoy it too!

Steve - That is exactly what it is also like at Blackpool should you ever grace us with your presence (and you would be made VERY welcome.... just ask Shorty).

There is no elitist attitude whatsoever. Just a great feeling of being with like-minded people, similar to this forum. It doesn't matter here whether one asks the basic of questions, someone will always help out without the fear of looking down on them.

What a jolly set of people us celluloid folk are!!!

I have never been one to think that I am better than others, I remember and it was a few years ago now, we paid a visit to Yvonne sister daughters place. Her husband went on and on about how much his stereo speakers cost. I don't mind that so much in the way of what it cost, but this person was all about money. Later he asked me about our home sound system speakers. I replied I bought them second hand from the Eco shed in town for $10 and they work fine, that was the end of that subject .

I myself has never been one to "keep up with the Joneses", I was never brought up that way and I cant think of anyone that I have ever worked with in particular, that thought that way also, very down to earth lot

Steve, thank you for telling the tale!

I also need to give huge thanks to another Steve, this one being Steve Osborne. My HID converted GS-1200 started to act up (film transport issues) less than a week before CineSea was to start. I have a standard GS as a backup and I was concerned about the difference in light output. I've only used ESC bulbs before, but I wanted to try something brighter so I called Steve and asked if he could rush a few of the ELC 250w 24v bulbs to me. They arrived two days later. I used the ELC with a 1.0 lens and it worked out very well, even when projecting Poltergeist through a scope lens. I was later asked whose 16mm print that was, which made me feel pretty good.
