  • Eumig 807 sound is croaky

    Hello,

    I have a Eumig 807 (only Super-8) projector.
    - There is hum sound also the sound of the movie but it is croaky. That means aplifier is good ?
    - I cleaned the pinch roller, also the parts around it.

The other recommendation is to replace the dead/faulty capacitors on the projector amplifier circuit board. But couldn find which one to replace? There are multiple capacitors on the board. Can you pls show on a diaghram if possible?

Do you have any other recommendation?

By the way, do you know where to buy a spare pinc roller?

    Thanks,

No one can tell you which capacitor to change as it could be any one of them on the circuit board. But the largest ones are usually the culprits but you should probably change them all. And even if you do, it's no guarantee it is a faulty capacitor causing the problem. I'm not sure what "croaky" means but I'm guessing you mean highly distorted. Starting by changing the caps is always the best plan of attack on old equipment.

There is also a hum bucking coil next to the sound head that needs moving to and fro to get the least amount of hum. But with the 800 series there is always, and I repeat always, a certain amount of hum in the output that can not be eliminated because the power transformer is located too close to the sound heads.

Also your sound heads could be worn out from years of use and could produce highly muffled sound now. The sound heads on Eumig projectors are known to be quite soft and wear quickly and are rated at 200 hours of use before replacement is necessary.
