  • From Soup to Nuts with music?

Does anyone know if Blackhawk Films ever released a version of Laurel & Hardy’s “From Soup to Nuts” with a musical sound track? They did for some of their silent shots, but I’m not sure about that one.

    And how about “Double Whoopee?”

I believe Blackhawk released Big Business, Two Tars , You’re Darn Tootin and Liberty with musical tracks. Cant think of any others. I have seen Putting Pants on Philip and Second Hundred Years but they are collector striped and recorded musical tracks.

Also , Battle of the Century was released by Blackhawk musical tracks 175ft on a 200ft reel Silver box series. It was rare until they found the rest of it.

One of the best soundtrack wise is a 200ft Mountain digest Pass the Buck aka Their Purple Moment

There are at least versions with music on archive.org. No clue whether it’s the original one or not. And also no clue whether the videos have the same length as the S8-versions. Sorry.

Rich, good choice on L&H films since it is one of my favorites from them! My copy is also silent from Blackhawk and I never saw a scored version either in their catalogues unless I missed it, that is!

Thanks, everyone. I suspected neither was ever released with a music track, but was hoping I was wrong. I’ve found a musical track really enhances my enjoyment of silent films. I already have prints of “Two Tars,” “Big Business,” “You’re Darn Tootin,” and “Liberty” with music, as well as Buster Keaton’s “Cops” and “One Week.” And Harold Lloyd’s “Never Weaken.”

For sure, it’s definitely worth the extra money to get a print with the music.
