I recently found my dad’s print of Ben Hur release by Cineavision its scope and stereo and it’s the full feature titles and credits with the trailer spliced at the beginning. The print also has no fading at all and amazing color. I’m wondering how rare this print it, how much it’s worth and if anyone knows the history about Cineavision and their Ben Hur print.

Wow Robert that’s truly amazing I remember my dad saying he got one back in the mid 90s. What was your job at the company?Last edited by Alexander Bevardos; June 02, 2025, 03:05 PM.

I'm not sure. I know that Cineavision officially released a 1X400ft digest, and an extended 3X400ft digest of the film. The 3X400ft digests have sadly, call faded. Curiously, the 1X400ft digest ( the same edit as the flat 400ft, but Cineavision), has retained it's color, but I've never heard of a Cineavision full feature of Ben Hur, unless it was released "under the table". Could this be the Derann full feature of Ben Hur? It was released as a full feature, scope, and on low fade stock. I have a copy of this release as well

Anthony,
I've found that most Cineavision prints have some fade. Could you please check the leader of your print for any information it might have? Does your film start with the Cineavision logo? I realize that since you mentioned the reel starts with a trailer that it might not have the original leader.

Well Osi you’re right I just cleaned my print and didn’t watch it until now, It is indeed a Derann print. I’m guessing who ever had this print before me put the poster on the box. Thankfully though the colors on my print are still vibrant. I also love how this print also has the original trailer, a couple small bumpers spliced in the film as well, makes it super fun to watch.1 Photo

Time flies so fast, eh..🙂
