  • What's the last Print you Bought?

    Greetings friend!

I thought it would be fun to resurrect an old topic in a new way:

If your comfortable, talk about the last S8 or 8mm print you bought! What's the title and how does it look? I thought it would be fun to have a log for people to share their new purchases with the group.

I've not purchased much as of late, but I was able to buy a digest 2x400 ft copy of Vincent Price Black Cat (Tales of Terror) and an odd reel from Star Wars a couple months ago! I'll eventually Frankenstein together the whole film.

    Happy Posting!

I think that was L&H pack up your trouble 3x120m in original box, cause the version I once bought on a 360m 1200" reel was terrible.

Flip the Frog in Stormy Seas. From a beat up master but still a lot of fun.

Have a couple of Flip cartoons now; never seen them before buying them on super 8. Think it’s the start of another collection!

From a recent sale at CHC in Cleethorpes UK.

        Dr.Zhivago 3x 400' Scope.

Nice print. Sharper than the flat version.

Just yesterday, " Going Spanish" 1934. It was Bob Hopes very first film. I first watched it on YouTube, not expecting much, and it was pretty good, and for 15.00 dollars, even if the print might not be superb, ( it's a Thunderbird release), it's still enuf of a rarity to make it a decent investment.

Jim, I'm pretty sure Stormy Seas isn't a Blackhawk. It's in an original but generic box with no clue as to who printed it. Given the very beat up nature of the master, I'd guess it was someone like Mountain films here in the UK. Still a lot of fun though.

I another Flip, The Cuckoo Murder Case which again has no manufacturer but this one is a lovely sharp and tidy print, so more likely to be someone like Blackhawk. It's very funny, but with rather black humour; just goes to show that cartoons weren't just aimed at kids back then.

That's happily due to the fact that the Flip the Frog cartoons were largely produced before the Production Code went into effect, thereby allowing for a more ribald level of humor!

I'm happy to say that I finally found a super 8 short I've looked for, for years, "Hollywood Blow Ups", it's the one that had Mickey Rooneys reactions to Jayne Mansfield, the Marx Brothers in a go cart race, ECT.
