Fantastic Joachim, really just brilliant!
Took me right back to those times; recognising lots of people. Truly nostalgic.
What an absolutely amazing video you have edited together here. My personal thanks for a trip down memory lane.
And it looks like those involved had a great time too.
Those were the days! Thanks to everyone involved with this. Loved it.

Those 4 lads paid so much money for their hobbies but stay in a small room and sharing beds.. that is sometime reflecting most of us..
My friend paid $20 for a bluray and complained that he paid that much only for a movie. Should he know me spend $400 for the same movie on 8mm would make him jump from his bed...
Btw... that is a nice documentary.
i started my love with 8mm in 1984 when my father brought a projector from Japan.
1991 was my time to start collecting 8mm from overseas. I was still at the second year of my Uni time and still did not have chance to buy from overseas. So I developed my collection from local fleamarket.
In 1996 I continued my Master degree in Australia and there I started buyinh films from overseas. There I knew Rodney Bourke and met him in person in Melbourne Film convention (if he still remember that event). I subscribed to his publication.
I wrote a letter to Derann and Duncan replied my letter by sending 1 200" WHDM free. I still keep it that now. I also wrote a letter with Robert Aragon about re-recording my 400' Raiders of the Lost Ark to stereo sound (but never happened) and he replied my letter with another letter. Internet was not a common thing at that time.
And now after these years I am still here collecting 8mm films altough slowing down (due to 60% of my film trapped on VS).
Regards,
winbert

It’s nice to see those events from the past. I was particularly touched at the Blackpool footage, for sitting a few rows from the front is myself and my dad George Moors, a truly great Super 8 film collector who attended Blackpool and the Derann Open days from 1977 until 2005. What he didn’t know about the golden age of cinema wasn’t worth knowing. A massive Errol Flynn fan as well. He is sadly missed.

I think this film is far FAR F A R more important than just a good film about a road trip made by four German collectors over to the UK, interesting as it is. I really think this film, made in a rather "off the cuff" way (spontaneous way) absolutely beautifully captures an era when one COULD visit several film shops up and down the country AND there was Blackpool! It is SO atmospheric and what fantastic footage is included of Derann and Derek Simmonds in full flight at the auction! That has always been a happy memory for me stored in my mind, and look.......we can now see him in action again in what is "new" footage for most of us from an era which has sadly declined.
Unfortunately, I was not at either Blackpool Convention in November '91 or '92, as I was enjoying a trip to Florida on both occasions.
I really do think that this film should also be archived, with the makers permission, on the Blackpool Convention website for all to see.
Phil Moors - I enjoyed reading your post. I am sure it came as a very pleasant surprise to suddenly see some unseen footage of yourself and your father together enjoying what you both liked doing the most. I am sure he would have been very impressed and very happy to have known how strong the hobby would still be in 2025.... and probably even happier that you are still involved !

yes it was great visiting you in Florida - where have the years gone!😳
There is one thing about film collecting.. it leaves so many great memories that we can reflect on and share.
Best to all the collectors from my generation 1973 onwards …happy times!👍
