Years ago I bought Derann’s „Beauty and the Beast“ and the seller said, it’s a top notch print. What he „forgot to mention“ was, that parts of reel 3 have a fluid soundstripe „dripping“ into the image, so that for 6 times a black shadow crawled onto the screen.
Last week I took a look at it and thought, why don’t You try to remove it somehow?
It was worth a try, because a damage of the material was no loss, in the end.
I took some Q-Tips and a film cleaner and hoped that a smooth reaction would be the result.
But in the end the result was amazing: the „soundstripe accident“ completely vanished and the material wasn’t harmed at all.
Now the climax of the feature is as beautiful as the rest of the feature.
Does anyone have a better/even more gentle idea of removing these „accidents“? Some Derann prints I have, have some „soundstripe glue“ on the right side of the image, which appear for some seconds and seem to be more complicated.
Would be great to collect some ideas.
Have a great screening,
Oliver
