Eumig Sound 800

Just been checking the Van-Eck web-site and came across a Eumig which I have never heard of. The Eumig Sound 800. This is for Super 8. Most remarkably it's black, but its lens is only a 1.6.
Has anyone got one?

Yes i got two, it may have been a type that has been sold to local markets only in this case holland was one of the places were it was sold because i find them here on a regular basis. it is indeed a bit of a simplified and therefore cheaper model in the 800 line. i bet there are other 800 types with the same features

Its easy to distinguish models made for different countries with various voltages by the Eumig paint job Maurice like that one.
In the collection I have quite a few variants made by Eumig one being the GAF another all black but with a bright coloured focus knob.

I think my attraction to the Eumig was further enhanced in the 1970's when I went out projecting my own documentaries to groups. It would happily fit in the rear top box on my 50cc moped loaded with foam to protect it. A small light weight projector ideal for small venues and robust.

We used to have elderly film maker here who regaled a story of his Mark S sound projector falling off the back of his motorcycle. He got to his venue to show the films and the projector still worked.

I still have my dads std 8 mark s the motor mounts had perished i think they were made from leather or cork originaly ,i then saw the ones made by van-eck purchased a pair and fitted them it is working perfectly again it is a lovely projector and built like a tank.

well some say that by looking at the tranformer you can see for which market it is made but normally they have all the setting you need to use them everywhere in the world. so you could see it by how it is set but not by the model of transformer. btw Lee i am a bit jealous of you having the GAF made by Eumig. that one is still missing in my collection.

@ Russ, the original motor mounts were made of plastic, this however is a plastic that did not age well indeed.

If you look at the Van Eck photo showing the inside of the 800 you can see it has the flag for the two settings of 50c/s and 60c/s.
The transformer has tappings for 220, 230, 240 and 250.
It seems to indicate that it is for the UK and most European countries.
Therefore, it seems not to be designed for a specific country.
