Subject : Elmo 8mm projector Model E-80 spindle resistance
I am trying to view some films on an Elmo 8mm projector E-80.
The machine has not been used by the family in about 4 decades.
I managed to get the film threaded using the Manual. I managed to get the 2 spring belts fitted to the reels.
When the Clutch Knob was engaged the belts turned. This was when the problem was seen. The belts turned. The reels did not turn.
Turning everything off I tested moving the spindles by hand. There was great resistance. No wonder the spring belts did not turn the spindles.
Looking to the Manual (p15) The Lubrication. The spindles are not listed as needing lubrication.
Do I need to reduce spindle resistance in some manner? How would I go about that?
Is there another solution to this problem?
