  • Kodak Moviedeck 285 heat-absorbing glass positioning

Hi! New member working on cleaning a Kodak Ektasound Moviedeck 285 and noticed that the heat-absorbing glass may not be retracting enough and is blocking part of the aperture plate, causing one corner of the projected frame to be dimmer than the rest. First picture is how it is retracting on its own, and the second is when I push the glass further out of the way with a small screwdriver. Which positioning is correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,

It seems to me this is the result of some pivot point being a little gummed up from years of sitting (-just look what it does to people with office jobs!). Maybe it will improve if you find that pivot, clean it and figure out the appropriate lube.

Thanks, Steve. I, too, am speculating it needs adjustment but I am hoping for a definitive answer before I have to crack the whole thing open!
