Opinion on Hot Splicers

Hello all,

I just wanted to gauge some opinions on hot splicers. I've never used one. Primarily I use a press tape splicer. I have the opportunity to get a working one at a pretty fair price. Do people have any opinion on these, over waiting for a nice guillotine tape splicer to come along?

HI Greg - Yes I have used one before on 35mm film and had good results - most of the time .
Personally I prefer to use a guillotine tape splicer ( on 16mm and Super 8mm ) . This way if I screw up a splice I don't have to keep cutting frames out to correct it .
But just my preference .
