  • Old Kodak Film Cleaner

Would this bottle of old (60s-70s) Kodak Film Cleaner still be good to use on my old 8mm movie films? There is still about half of the bottle left. This stuff has been stored inside my house closets so it’s been in a temp controlled environment. I do have some old scrap movies I can try it out on but I thought I would ask if this stuff has a shelf life. I would use gloves and a mask while using it.

I see that it contains methyl chloroform which is mainly composed of trichloroethane, commonly know as trich. For years I used trich in cinemas for general cleaning until it was banned. It was great stuff and I see no reason why your bottle cannot still be used.
HOWEVER. Do not inhale, and only use in a well ventilated area.

I still have a bottle. It’s still good to use, although a cleaner/lubricant like Filmguard is safer
