These two beauties were my first ever film purchases (although the 'Apes' film shown was a replacement I purchased off ebay some years ago, so it isn't my original). Both are 200ft B/W silent. They were from Mailmaster Films.

Here's also some of the free catalogues you received regularly from Mailmaster once you had made a purchase from them. Also, a double page ad from a 1975 'Movie Maker'.

And don't forget to use the 5% off coupon if you visit any of their London stores before the end of January 1978!

Yes Gary , and speaking of coupons....KEN FILMS would have a few inches of film on the end leader of movies that said either " coupon 50 " or " coupon 200 " and if you clipped a certain number of them and sent them in to Fort Lee ( I don't recall how many you had to clip ) , they would send you either a FREE 50 or 200 footer movie of your choice . I did it a few times , but can't recall which ones I got for free . My gosh , that was over 50 years ago !

Night of the Demon std 8 silent projected on my little Kodak projector. Scared the hell out of me as a kid.

Osi. I dreamed about your muscles last night, that's a worry I decided to put some frozen peas up my arms to give a similar result. Probably a after ssymptom of Covid. HA!

I'm so glad I wasn't eating anything when I read that Lee or I would have choked! So funny.

David - That was a really neat idea from Ken Films. Not heard of that one before.

David, that story you shared is so totally COOL! I never even heard of that, but what a neat way to really be sure that the person "earned" the promotions offered! That was funny Lee, no worries here! I forgot to mention that I ran into a black n white silent 50ft of "Battle In Outer Space", not a horror film, though. I wasn't impressed, as Star Wars had already come. I remember feeling really ripped off, as, it was a 50ft reel, but was sold in a 200ft box! Grrrrrr!

That Columbia catalogue alone takes me right back. There were also handwritten and typed lists and catalogues in the pack from Mailmaster. Anyone remember Erne Films in NI?

I still have "It Came From Outer Space". The print is unfaded and the 3D is pretty good, I like the end credits a lot. I thought that "Creature" had very poor 3D effects, except for some of the under water scenes

Yes Osi , I have to agree with you on that one !

" CREATURE " actually gave you headache in some group shots .

I watched Godzilla vs The Thing last night. It was bittersweet to watch it without my grandparents but I am going to count this as my first Monster Super 8 since I now own it and remember watching it with them as a kid! My grandmother used to play the piano along with the film and would "crash" the keys to make Godzilla roar!!

Oh! That's so cool that she would do that for the fam! Almost like being back in a silent movie theater.
