ELMO ST-600M Record Needle ?

I have 2 Elmo ST-600Ms. Both run great. One has always had the record needle stuck to the far right. (See picture) Now today the second one is doing the same. I have never recorded with either and do not plan to. Just wanted to make sure this is not something to be concerned about. Like the head is getting ready to erase a film or something like that. Thanks.

Tom,
It wont erase the soundtrack in play mode . The meter is also for sound levels and not just for recording.

I would turn the machine on without a film loaded and press the record button lots of times ,it may clear the contacts and put the meter needle back to normal, I think that's the problem and nothing to loose trying it, Mark
