OK, the auction on eBay honestly states that all you are getting is the box and the reel, no film, but what is the freaking point of selling a box, and even a reel, (very generous of the seller), with no film ... for 19.95? Signed , rant-meister!
There are people who have the film without the box, which was lost or destroyed over the years. There are also people who just collect the boxes if they have art work, for decorative purposes.
I'd happily buy certain boxes without even a reel, if they have nice artwork in good condition (and my film is in a plain box), but I wouldn't pay anywhere near $19.95 for one, unless it was one of those exceptionally nice cases that were produced for certain USA feature releases.
However, from the sellers point of view, I would think the point is to make as much money as possible. Especially if the film developed VS and was too warped to sell or had been made into a composite reel.
