Films reels

Hi, I have found some film reels that are for a larger than 8mm diameter input but they are not 16mm or 9.5mm or super 8. Does anyone know what format they may be?

17.5mm perhaps, not a common gauge.

They may be 17.5mm 28mm or 35mm or 70mm width film most probably, but in truth over the years, particularly in the early days of motion picture film there were hundreds of possible widths, some only existing in the prototype stage. A photograph from all aspects would be handy to help identify. Also measure the width between the flanges.

I was unaware of the 17.5mm format. What manufacturers produced it?

A 16 mm width spool with a standard 8 core, that's a first for me. Maybe designed for a specific dual gauges projectors ?

Looks more like a Super 8 core to me Dominique.

You're probably correct, Brian, so my guess about a dual gauges machine is not possible.

No. Super 8 is not. The inside diameter is larger. 17.5mm either. I had never seen them

Rodrigo, you cannot put a super 8 film on those spools but can you put the spools on a super 8 projector ?

It doesn't look like a super 8 to me but I'll give it a try
