  • How well do you know your film boxes? 8mm Cover Art Quiz #6

It's way past time for another cover art quiz. Here are details of the artwork from 5 different cutdowns. See if you can identify which releases these are from. Good luck!

Great job, Doug! You have me totally stumped (so far!) I have been through most of the Columbia Super 8 digests and believe we can eliminate them. If and when you should be feeling charitable, could you let us know if these digests are off the table? Thanks!

Wow Doug, this is super difficult!

Reminds me of those impossible quiz questions that Chip used to baffle us all with. 😀

Hope they don't turn out to be from some home made covers of yours! 😂

            (B) is "Bridge on the River Kwai" - Columbia. I missed this the first time I went through my Columbia releases!

Good spot for both of those Carter. I guessed it was William Holden but I couldn't figure out which film.

              Completely stumped on the others.

The William Holden cover of "Bridge" was tricky. The 400' digest and the 200' "Souvenir" edition have different covers. I missed it at first when I went through my 400' digests. Doug has upped his game this time for sure!!

Is 'c' from a Mr Magoo film perhaps?

'E' looks like a 1950s musical but I can't identify either of the people who are charactured.

Gary, Mr. Magoo is a great guess for (C). You have motivated me to pull out my Columbia catalogs! Thanks for a great tip!

                              Wow...Nice work, Carter!

                              A. Yes, the detail is from Republic Pictures' Canadian Mounties and Avalanche of Death, however the exact same art was used for their earlier release of Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders. These were put out in 50', 200' & 400' silent versions.

                              B. Correct! The nicely edited 200' "Souvenir Edition" of The Bridge on the River Kwai.

                              D. Right again! Piccolo Film's 400' sound/color digest of Casino Royale.

                              Gary,

Sorry, C is not from a Mr. Magoo title.

                              Three down, two to go!
