  • Looking for a sounds change over switch when running 2 projectors

Hello everyone!! Hope all are well.

I have 2 Elmo GS-1200 running through an amp. If I run both projectors I have manually switch the sound over to the correct input by hand for whatever projector I am running. Does anyone out there have or use some type of sound change over switch? If so, can you suggest where I can check them out and order one?

You can reply here or email at sffilm@aol.com

    Thanks Ken

    Hi Ken,

I do this by using a small, fairly cheap mixer panel.

This has basically become the gateway to my sound system and when I want to add a component (right now I'm at two Elmo S8 sound machines, a DVD/Blu-Ray player and a Kodak Pageant), all I have to do is plug into it.

I started out with a simple switch, but that only allowed for two sources and there was sometimes a "pop" when changing between them.

I often use the channel volume controls to completely turn off the inactive machines' audio, but setting them all at a normal level works pretty well too.

I use an av selector from the vcr days.

        model JVC 300 selector

simple rca connections up to 3 connections from the back and 1 on the front

run gs1200 2 pin din LR to rca male at input 1

run mini to phono from gs aux out to input 2

now you can switch from mono to stereo without swapping cables.

note you will need a JVC for each machine to avoid swapping cables

outputs of each JVC is assigned to Dolby processor inputs

ie. Projector one vcr 1 in
        Projector two vcr 2 in

the mentioned pop noise can be avoided by hitting picture AND sound at the SAME TIME 100%

any slight delay and the Dolby processor will send out the closed circuit as a thud whereas the closed circuit is caught in the process of switching over caused by slightest delay

Steve Osborne at one time had 2 pindin to rca female adapters that will make 2pindin convertion very easy at $4.00 each.

Thanks you Chip, Mark and Steve.

The information has been helpful and I appreciate the responses! I forgot the items you all mentioned and would make a showing so much nicer. I'm researching which might work the best for my needs and space limitations. I will have to let you know how my change overs come out

          Until then, keep running film
