I have seen a Kenner toy projector product, that I don't remember from years ago. One of the cassettes for this machine is up on the ole eBay. ( If someone can make a link, it would be appreciated ), the cassette is of the 60's cartoon, "The Herculoids", and appears to run approximately two or so minutes. I have only seen this one cassette, so I am betting that this wasn't in production for too long. Does anybody have any info on this super 8 rarity?

It used special 11.5mm wide film with an optical sound track 3.5 mm wide (Standard 8mm film Plus 3.5mm optical track)

Interesting that they were using optical sound, but the sad thing is that, even if you could take the film out of the cartridges, you couldn't play them except on that specific kids projector.Comment

Egad! You can't hear the audio through the "clicking" of the hand cranked projector. If it was optical sound, I wonder if the optical sound was generated with one and the same light source? Perhaps that is why it was so bad? I am betting that it was here and gone within weeks.Comment

I’m sure it was an extremely primitive optical sound system Osi, capable of producing only low frequency grunts and noises- certainly no dialogue!Comment

I can remember the films it came with - sure they were about 25ft long. 1/ was a short chip n Dale with Donald Duck and another was a clip from "Clock Cleaners" and I cannot be sure about anything else.
I loved it! It was the red model and hand cranked...ran on batteries an quite a dim bulb.

Can anyone remember those viewers you could get from Mail -master? (U.K.) circa 1972 ish?)
They held up to 200" of film...hand cranked!! I remember renting the 200" b/w version of "Night of the Demon" from the local camera shop/small film library....it used reflected light to highlight the image.
Aaah memories...what I like about those days was things like the wonderful "Exchange and Mart"...and remember "bumper" pack of film catalogues...always with the request. Please "rush me"...great days now gone.

I now find even more fascinating, what would have to be the World's smallest movie viewer. It was a keychain movie viewer, and believe it or not, it was made in the late 80's! 1987! I know that I was already 21 by then and already having fun with full size super 8 projectors, but I am surprised that I never heard of these! The review for it is right after the Kenner movie projector review!Comment

YEAH!!!!! How totally awesome!!! This was 1987, and just when super 8 in the USA was pretty much done, these little gems came out! I wonder who printed these little ole loops of film? We're they on Kodak SP or LPP?Comment

Hi Osi and Steve, I had several of these viewers with over 25 film cartridges. I found mine in Hallmark card shops and seem to remember there were many 1980s television cartoon episodes available. There currently is a Youtube video demonstrating the viewer under the title "Fascinations Super 8 Keychain Movie Viewer." The narrator and viewer comments mention that these titles were available: Little Rascals, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, Dinky Duck, Betty Boop, King Kong Vs. Godzilla, Thundercats, Popeye, Superman, and even Chippendales male strippers!
