  • Bolex V180 DUO Broken Glass Clip

I received a Bolex V180 DUO from my brother in the mail, and when I received it, the glass was broken. I am looking to repair it.

There is a clip amongst the pieces that I'm not sure where it goes:

Here's what the inside looks like:

If anyone has one of these and wouldn't mind opening it up (there are three easy screws to open it up), it would be helpful to know where that clips goes.

    Thanks in advance,

No clue where clips belongs. But they are usually used as a „framer“/„spacer“ for the glass screen so that the glass doesn't directly touch the viewer's body.

I would have assumed that there are four clips - one for each side of the glass screen.

When there are other optical elements in the viewer, like e.g. mirrors, then it might belong there.

Hi Philip... I have a similar viewer. This type of viewer was made in Japan by Sansei Koki. It was marketed under several brand names. However my guess is that it's internals are pretty much the same. I removed the back on mine and looked carefully but could not find anything that resembled that metal clip in your photo. My guess is that it did not belong there and somebody had opened up the back and tried to repair the viewer in some way. Only a guess. If after you replace the broken glass and the viewer works that would prove the part wasn't needed.
